How much does it cost to install a built-in electric fireplace, including the wiring?

In Weaverville, the best time to add a built-in electric fireplace is during the Reems Creek new-construction boom — with walls still open and a fresh panel, recessing the unit and running a dedicated circuit is as cheap and clean as it gets. The Dimplex itself is a few hundred dollars. We're 15 minutes north; call (828) 545-0525.

New builds make it easy

The cost of a built-in electric lives in the wall work, not the appliance — and in Weaverville's new Reems Creek homes, that wall work is already half done. Open framing means we recess the unit without demolition, and a modern panel has room for a dedicated 1,500-watt circuit without a fight. Ask your builder to rough it in and the finished feature wall costs a fraction of what a retrofit runs. The Dimplex IgniteXL Bold 50 gives you a 50-inch linear flame with no vent and no gas line.

Older downtown homes are a different story

Downtown Weaverville's original masonry fireboxes are another matter — those are inefficient open hearths, and if you want real heat, a sealed insert is the conversation. An electric built-in can still go on a different wall as low-maintenance ambiance, but retrofitting the circuit through older construction takes more labor than a new build. Either way, electrical isn't our trade; we coordinate a licensed electrician and run the carpentry and install ourselves.

What it does and doesn't do

Electric is the budget path — a fully vented gas or wood fireplace with a new fuel line and chimney runs $4,000–$12,000, and this lands well under that. It's about 5,000 BTU of supplemental heat for a room up to 400 square feet, and it's dead in an outage. Weaverville's north-facing valley warms slowly in spring, so if you want dependable cold-weather heat, look at gas. Free quote at (828) 545-0525.
