If I start in November, can I convert my wood fireplace to gas logs in time for the holidays?

Propane changes the setup, not the timeline

Out toward the cabins, Connestee Falls, and Sherwood Forest you're likely on propane, and propane burns hotter per unit than natural gas — it needs different orifices and pressures, so the log set or insert has to be configured for LP or it soots. That's routine for us; we connect the regulator and piping and coordinate the tank with your propane supplier.

It doesn't add much time, but it's a step a showroom selling a boxed log kit skips — and getting it right is the difference between a clean flame and a sooty one.

A wet-climate chimney gets looked at first

Brevard's rainfall cracks crowns, spalls brick, and rusts dampers, and Transylvania crawl spaces and chimney chases stay damp much of the year. A vented log set drafts with the damper open, so we confirm the flue and damper are sound before setting a date.

If the wet season has done damage, we fold the repair into the plan up front rather than discovering it in December — or steer you to a sealed insert that vents through a fresh liner and sidesteps the old chimney's condition.

Transylvania permit and the honest timeline

Every conversion needs the licensed gas line — work a mason or landscaper can't legally do in North Carolina. We run the line, permit it through Transylvania County, pressure-test, and meet the inspector.
