Rough in a properly sized line to the future patio, cap it, and first confirm whether you're on gas or propane.
Get the trades sequenced before the pour
Because we're fifty minutes out and the permit runs through Jackson County, the clean version of this job depends on timing — us in during rough-in for the gas and appliances, your builder handling the slab, a mason on deck for any masonry outdoor fireplace. Line it up before the concrete pours and no one's waiting on anyone.
The buried line is the piece you can't cheaply add later, so get it in while the ground is open — trenching a finished Sylva lot afterward is disruptive and costly. Run it toward the fire feature and sleeve any slab crossing.
Which fuel, and the river-valley damp
Sylva is mixed-fuel — confirm whether your lot reaches a gas main or runs propane, then size the meter or the tank for the house plus the outdoor load. The Tuckasegee valley's cold-air drainage and river moisture are hard on outdoor metal, so a sealed gas fire feature and outdoor-rated buried pipe stand up better than untreated hardware.
The gas connection is licensed work in North Carolina — your builder legally can't make it. We run and pressure-test the line and pull the Jackson County permit.
