What does an annual gas fireplace service include?
In Asheville, an annual service means we tune your fireplace to how it was built — the gas-log set dropped into a Montford or North Asheville masonry firebox gets a different going-over than the sealed clean-face unit in a South Asheville build. We clean the burner and pilot, verify the gas, check the vent, and test-fire before we leave.

Up in Montford and North Asheville, and the older homes around Biltmore Village, a lot of what we service is a vented gas-log set someone dropped into an original masonry fireplace — so we check that the damper is clamped open the way a vented set requires, look over the aging clay flue liner, and clear the burner ports where dust and spider webs settle over a warm summer. Out in the newer South Asheville builds, it's usually a sealed direct-vent unit, and there the work centers on pulling the glass, cleaning both faces, and checking the gasket that seals combustion off from the room.

Before we pack up we reset the log and ember placement to the manufacturer's layout — a log nudged into the flame path is what sooties glass and can push carbon monoxide the wrong way — and run one full ignition from cold while we watch it.
