What does an annual gas fireplace service include?
Fairview is propane country — big wooded lots where homes run LP rather than a gas main, and wood heat is popular alongside it — so annual gas service here means checking an LP appliance and its venting under a heavy tree canopy. We verify propane pressure and orifices, clean the pilot and burner, clear the vent termination, and test-fire it.
Propane on the ridge
Out in Cane Creek Valley and up toward Garren Creek, propane is the rule, and an LP fireplace runs at a higher pressure through smaller orifices than a natural-gas one. So on Fairview units we read the pressure at the valve, look over the regulator, and confirm the orifices and pilot are sized and clean for propane — a drifted setup burns lazy and sooty and shows up first on the glass. The tank belongs to your supplier; everything from the regulator into the fireplace is ours. We swap the batteries on millivolt or battery-backup ignition too, so LP heat still lights when a storm takes the power on these rural lines.
A heavy canopy works on the vent
Fairview's wooded lots are the reason wood heat is so common here — and the reason creosote in wood chimneys is the leading cause of chimney fires without a fall sweep. But that same tree canopy affects your gas unit too: leaves and debris pile on the vent termination, and a blocked or partly-blocked termination changes how a direct-vent fireplace draws and can push it to run poorly. So part of our gas service is getting outside to check that termination is clear and sound. If you also burn wood, that's a separate sweep-and-inspect job, and we'll tell you straight whether you need it.
The finish
We reset the logs and embers to the manufacturer's layout, test the thermocouple and thermopile that prove the pilot is lit, run a full ignition from cold while we watch it, and give you an honest report on the unit and its venting.
