Where does a propane tank go on a steep mountain lot, and can the delivery truck reach it?
Arden's established Royal Pines and Skyland neighborhoods are on the natural-gas mains, so most homes here don't need a propane tank — we extend a permitted gas line to the fireplace instead. Where a property sits past the main, the tank goes where it clears code setbacks and the delivery truck can reach it with a hose, usually near the drive.
On the main, in most of Arden
The 1980s and '90s homes across Skyland, Royal Pines, and Glenn Bridge, plus the Biltmore Park commercial side, are largely served by natural gas. A lot of those houses still have a tired open masonry firebox pulling heat out of the room; the popular fix is a sealed gas insert, and on the main that just means a permitted gas line — no tank, no fills, nothing in the yard. So for most of Arden, the propane-tank question doesn't come up.
The outlying lots
Where you're on a property the main hasn't reached, propane fills the gap, and then placement follows the usual order: code clearances from the house and lot line, a reachable spot for the bulk truck, and the run back to the fireplace along the buried outdoor-rated line we size and pressure-test. On the gentler grades common in these established neighborhoods, a reachable, setback-clearing spot near the driveway is usually easy to find.
