Where does a propane tank go on a steep mountain lot, and can the delivery truck reach it?
Fairview is propane country — the wooded, rural lots out through Cane Creek and Garren Creek are off the gas mains and run on tanks and wood. A propane tank goes where it clears code setbacks from the house and lot line and where the delivery truck can reach it with a hose, which on these shaded, sloped lots usually means up near the drive.
Propane and woods
Out in Fairview you're almost always on propane, and the lots are large, wooded, and often sloped — Cane Creek Valley, Garren Creek, up off the Charlotte Highway corridor. Dense trees and a grade both shrink where a heavy bulk truck can safely park and run a hose, so the tank goes to the reachable ground first, typically up toward the driveway, with buried line run down to the fireplace. Wood heat is popular here too, but any gas hearth or conversion needs that licensed propane line — that's our lane.
Setbacks, reach, run
Three things fix the spot: required code clearances from the house, its openings, and the property line; a firm, reachable place for the delivery driver; and the distance the gas travels back to the appliance along the outdoor-rated line we size and pressure-test. On a wooded slope the scenic corner is often the one the truck can't reach in winter — a quick site walk sorts that before anything's set.
