Who installs the propane tank versus the fireplace — is it the same company?
It depends on your fuel, and Asheville is mostly on the natural-gas main — so many homes here have no propane tank at all. Where a home does run propane, it's two parties: your supplier owns and fills the tank, while Steady Flame installs the fireplace and runs the licensed, permitted gas piping from the source to the unit.
On the main versus on a tank in Asheville
Much of Asheville — Montford, North Asheville, West Asheville, and the newer South Asheville builds — sits on the natural-gas main, and there the utility owns the meter at the wall. No propane tank ever enters the picture; we simply extend a permitted, pressure-tested branch from that meter to your fireplace and connect the appliance. Push out past the mains, onto the wooded lots and up the ridges that ring the city, and you're into propane instead. Then the split is clean: the tank belongs to your propane supplier, who sets and fills it, and everything from that tank's regulator to the flame belongs to us. Knowing which situation you're in is the first thing we sort out on the visit.
