Who installs the propane tank versus the fireplace — is it the same company?
In Clyde the fireplace and the fuel side are two jobs. Your propane supplier handles any tank, and Steady Flame installs the fireplace or insert and the licensed gas line feeding it. Much of Clyde runs on propane, though homes nearer the gas line skip the tank altogether.
1960s-80s ranches ready for inserts
Clyde is full of 1960s through '80s ranch-style homes with dated fireplaces that would heat far better with a modern sealed insert. That upgrade is two specialties working together: on a propane home, the supplier owns and fills the tank, while we install the insert, size the liner, and run the gas line that connects it. The appliance and the fuel line are our lane; the tank is theirs. In North Carolina, that final connection is licensed work, so it isn't something the fuel driver or a handyman can legally finish for you.
Valley damp is hard on the hardware
Clyde shares the cold-air drainage of Canton and Waynesville, and river humidity rusts dampers and degrades masonry chimneys here faster than owners expect at 2,600 feet. When we put in an insert and its gas line, we address the venting and any corrosion at the same time, because a fuel connection deserves clean, sound components rather than a tie-in onto tired hardware. We pull the Haywood County permit and meet the inspector, which also keeps the home's insurance and future sale on solid ground.
