If you're building or recently bought, this is the moment to put in a Napoleon you'll actually love: the Ascent 36 as an everyday workhorse, or the 50-inch Vector linear if you want the modern ribbon-flame look over a clean wall. Both vent direct out a sidewall, so they fit rooms with no chimney at all.
Older downtown homes with tired fireboxes
Closer to Main Street, the original masonry fireplaces are charming and inefficient; most were built to look good, not to heat. A Napoleon Oakville X4 insert (GDIX4N) drops into that existing opening, seals off the draft that's pulling warm air up the flue, and turns a net heat-loser into a 20,000-BTU heater. You keep the character and gain the heat, and this north-facing valley is slow to warm in spring, so that heat matters longer than you'd think.
