Are gas log BTU ratings different for propane versus natural gas?

The metering orifice is the small part that decides everything. Natural gas needs a larger opening than propane because it carries less energy per cubic foot at lower pressure. Put a propane-jetted set on the Weaverville mains and it runs lazy and cold; put a natural-gas set on a tank out toward Ox Creek and it over-fires and blackens the logs.
