At what tank percentage should I schedule a propane refill?

Distance argues for a bigger cushion
Sylva is one of the farther towns we serve, and remoteness cuts both ways — your propane supplier's truck and any service call both have farther to travel. That's a good reason to call for a fill closer to 35% than 30% in deep winter, and to lean on automatic delivery so a top-off is already scheduled before you're low. The 20% floor is non-negotiable: below it, a tank can't build vapor pressure well on a cold Tuckasegee-valley night.
Rentals and absentee owners
Student rentals get used hard and watched loosely, and Dillsboro has plenty of part-time and second homes — both are exactly the situations where a tank quietly runs down unnoticed. A remote monitor lets an owner or property manager check the level from anywhere, and it takes the nobody-noticed out of a mid-winter run-out. For a rented house, that's tenant comfort and a protected asset in one small device.
River-valley damp, and the fix
The Tuckasegee valley's cold-air drainage and river moisture are hard on dampers and old flue liners, which is one more reason older Sylva and Dillsboro fireplaces often run better as sealed inserts.
