Wood use means creosote — clean it first
Fairview's wooded rural lots make wood heat a natural fit, and a lot of homes here have been burning it for years. That's fine, but it means the chimney is often lined with creosote — the tarry buildup that's the leading cause of chimney fires when a flue goes unswept. Before we put a vented Real Fyre set into an existing wood fireplace, that flue gets swept and inspected. Vented logs vent their exhaust straight up it with the damper open, so a clean, sound chimney isn't optional here — it's the starting line.
Propane country, spec'd right
Fairview is propane territory — the rural lots out toward Cane Creek and Garren Creek run on LP, not a gas main. A vented log set burns on propane, but it has to be built for it, with the correct orifices and pressure; a natural-gas set will soot on LP. Connecting that propane line, setting the regulator, and dialing in the appliance is licensed gas work — our lane, and no showroom's or handyman's. The tank itself we coordinate with your supplier.
Buncombe County permit, 15 minutes east
We sweep and inspect the flue, check the firebox and damper, pull the Buncombe County permit, and meet the inspector. Fairview is about 15 minutes east of our Asheville showroom.
