Clyde's ranch-style homes from the 60s, 70s, and 80s often have original fireplaces that are ready for a sealed gas or wood insert — a real efficiency jump over an open firebox. But an insert has to match the existing opening, and it needs a correctly sized liner, both of which come down to measurements we take on site. A photo shows the fireplace; it doesn't show the flue's size or condition, and that's what decides the job.
River humidity and mixed fuel
Clyde shares the cold-air drainage and river humidity of the Pigeon valley, and that damp rusts dampers and degrades masonry chimneys over time — conditions we check in person before recommending a reuse, a reline, or a direct-vent bypass. The area is mixed-fuel too, so we confirm whether you're on natural gas or propane, since the burner and pressures differ. None of that resolves from an image, so we look before we price.
