Fixing the draft while you're at it
Those oversized open hearths have a downside Flat Rock owners know well — they pull cold-air drafts down into the room and send most of their heat up the flue. A reface is the ideal moment to set a sealed gas insert into that opening, cutting the draft and turning a decorative firebox into a real heater.
