Can you put stone veneer over a brick fireplace?

Yes — and Fletcher's 1990s subdivision fireplaces are prime candidates. Those builder-grade brick fronts are non-combustible and load-bearing, so thin stone veneer bonds right over them for a look that finally matches the house. Fletcher runs on strong natural-gas mains, which makes it easy to turn a plain reface into a heated, modern centerpiece.

Updating builder-grade brick

A lot of Fletcher's housing went up in the 1990s along the growing I-26 corridor, and those homes came with plain, builder-grade brick fireboxes that read as dated now. Stone veneer is the fix — thin natural or manufactured stone rides over the existing brick, no demolition, no structural work. The one thing we check first is what the brick wraps: some builder fireplaces face a factory-built firebox, which sets the clearance rules for how close decorative stone can come to the opening. We confirm that before the layout.

Gas mains make the upgrade easy

Fletcher's natural-gas infrastructure is some of the best in our service area, so a reface is a natural time to set a sealed gas insert or a clean-face linear unit behind the new stone. Flame at the flip of a switch, real heat, and no wood to haul. Running or extending the gas line is licensed work — we permit and pressure-test it, pull the Henderson County permit, and meet the inspector. The airport-area commercial buildings get the same treatment. About 20 minutes south of our showroom. Call (828) 545-0525.

One accountable company

Rather than stitching the job across a stone mason and then hunting for someone licensed to connect the gas, we keep the appliance, venting, gas line, permit, and stonework under one roof — with a workmanship guarantee behind it. Sound brick takes a scratch coat directly; painted faces get lath first.
