Do all fireplace brands offer propane (LP) versions, or does switching from natural gas require a conversion kit?
Clyde's 1960s-to-80s ranch homes came with dated fireplaces that are prime candidates for insert upgrades, and that upgrade is the moment to confirm your fuel. The area is mixed between natural gas and propane, and every brand we carry offers both versions, never both in one unit. It's spec'd for your fuel or converted at install with a factory kit. Licensed work.
Dated fireboxes, modern inserts
The ranch-style builds around Clyde are full of dated open and prefab fireplaces that convert beautifully to efficient sealed gas inserts running 70 percent efficient or better. Whether the home is on a natural-gas line or a propane tank decides which configuration that insert needs, and we don't assume the fuel from the old appliance. Plenty of these homes were built when the surrounding fuel picture looked different, so the only reliable way to spec the new unit is to confirm what's feeding the house today.
River-valley moisture and Haywood permits
Clyde shares Canton and Waynesville's cold-air drainage, and the river humidity in the lower Pigeon valley rusts dampers and degrades masonry chimneys, so the flue and connection deserve inspection during any upgrade. Converting between fuels is licensed work: new orifices, a different pressure, and a pressure-tested line. We permit the job with Haywood County and confirm a clean burn before we leave.
