North-valley cold and the sizing math

Weaverville's north-facing valley warms up slower in spring than Asheville, so the heating season leans a little long — worth accounting for when we size the appliance to the room. WNC pushes past the usual 20-BTU-per-square-foot rule, and we'd rather right-size than oversell. We pull the permit with Buncombe County and meet the inspector, since permitted gas work protects your resale and insurance.

Reems Creek's pace of new construction also means we're often coordinating with a builder's rough-in, and the free estimate is where we make sure the gas stub, venting, and hearth location all line up before drywall closes it in — far cheaper to plan now than to reopen a finished wall later. On an older downtown home, that same visit weighs whether the original masonry is worth saving or better sealed, and we'll tell you straight which way the numbers point.
