Does converting to gas take longer if my house doesn't have natural gas service?
In Arden, generally not by much. The Hendersonville Road corridor is on natural-gas mains, so with fuel already at the house a conversion is often a single day. The added time here tends to come from the housing stock, not the fuel — many 1980s and '90s Royal Pines and Skyland homes have tired open masonry fireboxes that want a sealed insert and its liner.

The open masonry fireplaces in Arden's Royal Pines, Skyland, and Glenn Bridge neighborhoods look fine but pull heat out of the room — a wide-open flue is essentially a hole in the house. Converting to a sealed gas insert fixes that, but it means fitting a correctly sized stainless liner up the existing chimney and confirming the masonry is sound. That liner step is usually where a day gets added; the gas connection off the nearby main is the quick part.
