Many Backgrounds. One Standard.

Is it OK to buy a fireplace online and hire someone local to install it?

You can, but it's usually a mistake. Buy the wrong-fuel or wrong-vent unit and you own that error; most manufacturer warranties also require dealer or professional installation, so buying online can void coverage before it's ever lit. And many licensed installers — us included — focus on the units we supply so we can stand behind the whole job.

The warranty trap

The catch people don't see coming is coverage. Many hearth brands tie their warranty to purchase and installation through their dealer network. Buy the same-looking box from a third-party site and that limited lifetime warranty can be void from the start — you've got a fireplace with no manufacturer backing the moment something goes wrong.

That's a big gamble on an appliance that runs gas and lives in your wall for decades. The savings on the sticker rarely cover the exposure if the valve or the ignition fails outside a warranty you no longer have.

Wrong unit, wrong fuel, wrong vent

A fireplace has to match your home — the fuel, the venting the space allows, and the size of the room. Order online and it's easy to get a natural-gas unit for a propane house in Fairview, or a model that can't vent where you need it to. Propane and natural gas need different orifices and pressures; a wrong-fuel setup soots and underperforms.

When you buy through a showroom that assessed your space first, that mismatch simply doesn't happen. Getting the right appliance is most of the battle, and a screen can't measure your room.

The cleaner path

One accountable licensed company beats stitching a job across a website and a hired installer. When we supply, vent, gas-pipe, permit, and inspect the same fireplace, there's no finger-pointing if something's off — it's all on us, backed by the manufacturer's warranty plus our workmanship guarantee.
