What is the Dimplex Revillusion?

What makes it look real

Most electric fireplaces use a mirrored back panel, which doubles the flame and instantly gives away that it's fake. Dimplex removed the mirror on Revillusion — so you see flames against a dark, deep firebox the way you would in a real fire, not a bright reflected copy of themselves.

The flame is also randomized, meaning it doesn't repeat on a visible cycle the way lower-end effects do. Add a hand-molded resin log set with a glowing ember bed, and on the heated models a Comfort ceramic heater, and you get one of the more convincing electric fires on the market.

Where it fits — retrofits especially

Revillusion firebox and insert models are designed to drop into an existing masonry or prefab opening. That makes it a clean way to retire a cold, drafty, never-used wood firebox and get flip-a-switch ambiance — no venting, no gas line, no chimney work. It's also a strong pick for a media wall or a room where running fuel isn't practical, giving you the depth and realism of Opti-myst's rival without the water reservoir to refill.

The same electric caveats apply

As convincing as it looks, Revillusion is still electric: supplemental heat only, and dark in a power outage. If backup heat matters, we'll steer you to gas or wood instead.
