Yes. We lay down floor and path protection before any tools come out, contain the dust from cutting or demo, and haul away the debris and your old unit when we're done — you shouldn't be sweeping up after us. Protecting your home is part of doing the job right, not an add-on we charge for.

What protection looks like

Before we carry anything in, we run drop cloths and floor runners from the door to the fireplace and cover nearby surfaces. Fireplace units are heavy and awkward, and the path in matters as much as the work area itself — a scratched hardwood floor in the hallway is still our fault. Where we're cutting drywall for a vent or pulling out an old firebox, we contain the dust as best the job allows so it isn't drifting through the whole house.

The messy parts and how we manage them

The dustiest moments are demo of an old prefab or masonry firebox and cutting the vent penetration. We keep those contained, and your old unit — insert, stove, log set, or firebox — leaves with us, so you're not left figuring out how to move a couple hundred pounds of steel to the curb. If a mason is building or repairing a stone face as part of the project, the stone dust and mortar cleanup on that portion falls under their scope, and we'll tell you plainly where our work ends and theirs begins.

The walkthrough at the end

When the unit's running, we clean the work area, wipe down the glass, and have you look it over before we pack up. Twenty-one years of doing this in WNC homes has taught us that how we leave the room is the last thing you remember about the whole job, and we take that seriously.
