Can propane freeze or stop flowing in very cold weather?
Candler is split on fuel: natural gas has reached the newer subdivisions, but plenty of Hominy Valley and Pisgah Highway properties still run propane — Candler is longtime propane country. For those homes the answer is that propane never freezes, though a low tank can stop flowing on a bitter night. Gas-main homes don't face the question at all.
Which side of the fuel line you're on
In Candler's fast-growing subdivisions, natural gas increasingly serves the newer streets, and there a fireplace runs at line pressure with no tank to manage. Out in Hominy Valley and up the Pisgah Highway, propane still rules, and that's where cold-flow matters: the fuel has to vaporize off the liquid to feed the burner, and near its 44-below boiling point or with a low tank it can't keep up. Keep the tank above 30 percent.

A sealed direct-vent unit vents combustion straight outside and gives real heat — and on propane it isolates the flame from the tank issues, though the tank still has to be full and correctly sized to perform.
Fifteen minutes west, permitted
Candler is fifteen minutes west of our showroom, and whether we're extending a natural-gas line or connecting a propane system, we permit the work with Buncombe County and pressure-test it.
