Out in Candler, a lot of homes run on propane — and propane gas fireplaces are just as outage-proof once they're set up for LP. Candler is propane country for much of its spread — the natural-gas main reaches the Enka side, but plenty of Hominy Valley and Pisgah Highway properties are fed from a tank. Either way, grid-down heat is covered: a millivolt fireplace draws no house current on natural gas or propane. LP just needs the right orifices and regulator pressure, dialed in by a licensed gas contractor, with the tank coordinated through your supplier. Getting propane wrong soots the glass and starves the flame; getting it right is our lane.
