Propane, not a gas main
Brevard doesn't sit on a natural-gas main the way Asheville does — out here the fuel is propane, delivered to a tank on the property. That changes how a Superior gas unit is built: propane burns hotter per unit and needs different orifices and pressures than natural gas, so the appliance has to be set up for LP from the start or it'll soot and run wrong. We handle that setup and the connection at the tank, coordinating the tank itself with your propane supplier.
If you'd rather skip the fuel question, Superior's EPA-certified WRT4500 wood box burns split oak and needs no gas line at all.
80 inches of rain is hard on a chimney
Brevard catches more than 80 inches of rain a year, and it shows up in the chimney: cracked crowns, spalled brick, rusted dampers, and moisture riding down crawl spaces and chimney chases. Before we install any Superior unit we check whether the existing structure can carry it or whether a sealed direct-vent setup — no reliance on a weathered masonry flue — is the smarter path.
That wet season runs hardest March through June, which makes late summer the right time to get the work scheduled.
One licensed company for the whole job
A mason down the road can build you a beautiful firebox, but in North Carolina he legally can't connect it to propane — that's licensed gas work.
