Candler is propane country on our fuel map, so out in Hominy Valley and along Pisgah Highway a dead fireplace often comes down to the tank — a runout or a frozen regulator — before the appliance. Newer Enka-Candler subdivisions may tie into gas, where a no-start is more likely batteries, the switch, or a dropped pilot. Call (828) 545-0525.
Check the fuel source first
A good share of Candler runs on propane, especially the rural stretches around Hominy Valley, Sand Hill, and the Pisgah Highway area, and a propane fireplace that's suddenly dead is most often out of fuel or fed by a regulator that iced on a cold morning. Check the tank gauge before you suspect the firebox. Propane also burns hotter per unit and needs its own orifices and pressures, so a wrong-fuel setup shows up as a stubborn, sooty flame that won't catch cleanly.
Builder-grade fireboxes wanting real heat
Candler is one of Asheville's fastest-growing suburbs, and a lot of its new subdivisions came with basic decorative builder-grade fireboxes that owners quickly wish produced real heat. When those go dead it's usually the electronics — batteries or a locked-out module. The Hominy Valley bowl also traps air, which is one reason a clean-burning sealed appliance is an attractive upgrade when we're already out for a repair.
Licensed gas and propane, 15 minutes west
Whether it's a propane connection or a natural-gas valve, this is licensed work — a landscaper or delivery crew legally can't do it, and we can, coordinating the tank with your supplier and pressure-testing the line. We pull the Buncombe County permit on anything that opens the fuel connection. Candler is 15 minutes west of our showroom, and every repair is quoted upfront. Call (828) 545-0525.
