The large wooded properties across Cane Creek Valley, Garren Creek, and the Charlotte Highway corridor are largely on propane, and a propane fireplace that's abruptly dead is most often simply out of fuel or fed by a regulator that iced overnight. Check the tank gauge first — a mid-winter runout is the most common dead-fireplace call we get out here. Propane also needs its own orifices and pressures, so a wrong-fuel or low-pressure setup shows as a stubborn, sooty flame that won't catch.
Wood-heat country, but different rules
Fairview's wooded lots make wood heat natural, and it's grid-independent — but a wood fireplace has its own failure, and creosote buildup from skipped fall sweeps is the leading chimney-fire cause here, a separate issue from a gas unit that won't light. If your dead appliance is the gas one, the wood side isn't the answer; the diagnosis stays with fuel, pilot, and valve.
