Why won't my propane fireplace light after the tank ran empty and was refilled?
Brevard is propane country — downtown homes and the cabins scattered through Transylvania County run on tanks, so the empty-then-refilled relight is a familiar call here. You get clicking with no flame because air was drawn into the gas line as the tank emptied, and the regulator's safety locked out when the fresh tank was connected. Both are corrected by hand, in order, not by cycling the switch.

The fireplace pulls air into the line behind the final propane; refill the tank and that air is still there, so the pilot clicks against a pocket of it until the line is purged and clean gas gets to the burner. Second homes and weekend cabins are the usual culprits, since no one is watching the gauge between stays.

When a dry tank is reconnected, the excess-flow safety in the regulator reads the surge as a leak and clamps down, so a full tank still yields no flame. Resetting it is a defined procedure that should be done right.
