Why won't my propane fireplace light after the tank ran empty and was refilled?

You get clicking and no flame because air entered the gas line as the tank drained and the regulator's safety locked out on reconnection. Both are cleared in order, never forced.

Out along the Charlotte Highway corridor and up Garren Creek, homes sit on large wooded lots where propane is the fuel and tanks can run to empty between deliveries. When yours does, the fireplace pulls air into the gas line behind the last of the propane. Refill the tank and that air is still there, so the pilot clicks and clicks against the pocket until the line is purged and clean gas reaches the burner — the fill alone does not clear it. Deliveries out Cane Creek Valley run on their own rhythm, and a cold snap can outpace the next fill.
The regulator, and a wood-heat backstop
On reconnection the regulator's excess-flow safety can read the inrush as a leak and clamp down, so a full tank still gives no flame until it is reset properly. The propane reset itself follows a defined procedure and is not a DIY override.
