Why won't my propane fireplace light after the tank ran empty and was refilled?
Candler is propane country — the fast-growing subdivisions out through Enka-Candler and Hominy Valley largely run on tanks, so the empty-then-refilled relight is a bread-and-butter call here. You get clicking and no flame because air entered the gas line as the tank drained and the regulator's safety locked out when the fresh tank was connected. Both are cleared in order, not by cycling the switch.
Builder-grade fireboxes on tanks
A lot of Candler's newer homes came with basic decorative builder-grade fireboxes running on propane, and those tanks do get run to empty. When one does, the fireplace pulls air into the gas line behind the last of the propane; refill the tank and the air pocket is still sitting there, so the igniter clicks and clicks without catching until the line is purged and clean gas reaches the burner. A fresh fill alone does not push that air out. Owners who moved in during the recent building boom often inherit a tank they have never watched closely.
The Hominy Valley bowl and the regulator
Hominy Valley sits in a natural bowl that holds air, which is part of why cleaner-burning sealed appliances are a good fit out here — but the immediate obstacle is the regulator. When the drained tank was reconnected, its excess-flow safety read the inrush as a leak and clamped down, so a full tank still yields nothing until it is reset. That reset follows a defined procedure, and forcing past the safety is exactly what you do not want on a gas line.
