Candler, North Carolina

Do fireplace installers run the gas line, or do I need a separate plumber?

In Candler, we run the gas line ourselves — no separate plumber. Steady Flame is a licensed gas contractor, and the fuel depends on where you are: newer Enka-Candler subdivisions may reach a gas main, while rural Hominy Valley and Pisgah Highway homes run on propane. Either way we size, run, pressure-test, and permit the line through Buncombe County. One licensed crew.

Which fuel Candler runs on

Candler is a mix. Out in the rural stretches — Hominy Valley, up the Pisgah Highway — propane is common, and connecting an LP appliance is licensed gas work: the line sized and pressure-tested, the regulator set, the fireplace dialed in for propane's hotter burn and different orifices. In the newer subdivisions closer to the Enka corridor, natural-gas mains may reach the street, and then our job is the branch line off the meter. We handle either fuel and, for propane, coordinate the tank with your supplier — the connection is ours, the tank is theirs.

Upgrading a builder-grade box — and the air-quality angle

A lot of Candler's fast-growing subdivisions came with basic, decorative builder-grade fireboxes, and owners want a real heat-producing upgrade within a few years. Hominy Valley sits in a natural bowl where cold air and woodsmoke settle, so a clean-burning sealed gas or a modern EPA wood appliance makes sense for air quality as much as heat. Swapping the box means re-running or resizing the gas line to the new unit — licensed work we own, permit through Buncombe County, and pressure-test.
