Many Backgrounds. One Standard.

Do fireplace installers run the gas line, or do I need a separate plumber?

We run it — no separate plumber needed. Steady Flame is a licensed gas contractor, so the gas line is our work start to finish: we size it, run or extend it, pull the permit with your county, and pressure-test it. That single-source coverage is the whole reason to hire a hearth company that's also gas-licensed.

The licensed-gas moat

In North Carolina, running or extending a gas line is licensed work. A furniture showroom or a mason can sell you a beautiful firebox, but they legally can't connect it to fuel — that's the gap that leaves a lot of homeowners stranded, holding a unit with no one licensed to make it burn. We can, and we permit and pressure-test every line we run. When you hire us, the gas line isn't a subcontractor you have to go find; it's the core of what we do.

Why single-source beats stitching it together

The alternative is coordinating a showroom for the box, a mason for the surround, and then hunting for someone licensed to handle the gas — three schedules, three invoices, and a lot of finger-pointing if something doesn't work. With us it's one accountable company for the appliance, the venting, the gas line, the permit, the inspection, and the workmanship guarantee. If anything ever needs attention, there's exactly one number to call, and it's ours.

Natural gas or propane, we handle both

Where you are decides the fuel: natural gas runs along the Asheville and Hendersonville mains and through Fletcher and Arden, while propane is the answer out in Fairview, Candler, Brevard, and the cabins up our mountain roads. For propane we set the regulator, piping, and appliance for LP; the tank itself we coordinate with your propane supplier. Not sure which you have?
