Many Backgrounds. One Standard.
Sylva, North Carolina

Do fireplace installers run the gas line, or do I need a separate plumber?

In Sylva, we run the gas line and pull the Jackson County permit — you don't line up a separate plumber. Steady Flame is a licensed gas contractor, so sizing and running the line, pressure-testing it, and meeting the Jackson inspector are all our work. One accountable crew handles the fuel side from the first visit through sign-off.

Jackson County permitting, out at the edge of our map

Sylva sits in Jackson County, roughly 50 minutes west of our Asheville showroom, so the permit comes from Jackson's office and we pull it and meet the inspector there for you. That matters more than it sounds: in North Carolina, running or extending a gas line is licensed work, and unpermitted gas work can void your insurance. Because we're gas-licensed and pull the permit ourselves, you're not stitching together a showroom, a handyman, and a hope that someone signs off — it's one company on record for the fuel.

Rentals and river-valley wear

A lot of Sylva housing is student and rental property near WCU that gets used hard and maintained unevenly, plus historic Dillsboro homes with older masonry chimneys. The Tuckasegee valley pulls cold-air drainage and river moisture through, which rusts dampers and degrades flue liners fast. For rentals especially, a sealed gas appliance on a properly sized, pressure-tested line is lower-drama than an aging open fireplace — and setting that line is licensed gas work we own, whether the property's on a gas main or propane.

Distance is a reason to single-source

When you're an hour from the shop, the last thing you want is three trades making three separate trips. We fold the appliance, the venting, the gas line, the Jackson permit, and the inspection into one job so it's done in the fewest visits, with one workmanship guarantee behind it.
