Do fireplace installers run the gas line, or do I need a separate plumber?

In Canton, we run the gas line and inspect every connection ourselves — no separate plumber needed. Steady Flame is a licensed gas contractor, so on flood-affected homes especially we size and run the line, pressure-test it, check the appliance connections, pull the Haywood County permit, and meet the inspector — one licensed crew accountable for the whole fuel side.

Flood recovery and gas safety

Canton's Pigeon River valley has taken serious flooding, and a lot of homes here had hearths and gas appliances submerged and needing full replacement. Water-damaged gas connections are not something to eyeball or leave to a handyman — corroded fittings and compromised valves have to be assessed, replaced, and pressure-tested by a licensed hand. That's the heart of what we do. When we set a new gas fireplace in a rebuilt home, we run a fresh, properly sized line, connect it, and prove it holds pressure before anyone lights it.

The permit is your protection

Rebuilding is exactly when the Haywood County permit matters most — it protects your insurance and your home's value, and unpermitted gas work can undo both. Because Canton is across the county line from our Asheville base, we pull that Haywood permit and meet the inspector for you; you don't coordinate it. One licensed company handling the firebox, the venting, the fuel line, and the sign-off means there's no gap where an unlicensed trade touched the gas.

Fuel and the damp valley floor

Canton is mixed-fuel — some homes on a natural-gas main, many on propane, and we run and set either. The valley floor stays foggy and damp, which rusts dampers and caps early, so sealed direct-vent units that skip the chimney often make sense here. Twenty minutes west of our showroom, we're close by. Call (828) 545-0525.
