Those hearths look magnificent and heat terribly; an open firebox that size can actually pull warm air out of the room and up a cracking flue. The elegant fix is a sealed gas insert that keeps the original mantel and surround while adding real, controllable heat. Doing it means running a gas line to a firebox that never had fuel and relining or bypassing the old clay flue — licensed gas and venting work, not something a mason or an antiques-minded remodeler can legally finish.
One company protects the character
When a home is this old, you don't want three trades improvising around irreplaceable brick. We handle the appliance, the venting, the gas line, and the Henderson County permit as one accountable job, so the routing is planned once, cleanly, with the house's character in mind.
