My house doesn't have natural gas service — can I still get a permanently plumbed fire pit with a dedicated propane tank?
Yes. Much of Asheville runs on natural-gas mains, but plenty of lots never got reached — older West Asheville streets, wooded hillside parcels, homes set well back off the road — and those run on propane. A permanently plumbed pit off a dedicated tank performs identically; we handle the buried outdoor-rated run and pressure-test it end to end.
Not every Asheville lot is on the main
The utility map isn't the whole city. Historic Montford and North Asheville homes with original masonry tend to sit near the mains, while wooded hillside parcels and pockets of West Asheville never had a line run up the street. On those lots a dedicated propane tank does exactly what a meter would — it just lives on your property instead of the utility's, feeding the same buried outdoor-rated pipe to your pit.
At 2,134 feet our evenings drop into the 20s well into early spring, so a permanent fire feature earns far more nights on the patio than it would down the mountain.
The tank is your supplier's; the plumbing is ours
The vessel — where it sits and who fills it — stays with your propane company, since they own and service it. Everything from the regulator on is licensed gas work: the buried run, the appliance connection, and dialing the burner in for LP. In North Carolina that hookup legally has to be made by a licensed gas contractor, not a landscaper or a delivery crew. We pull the Buncombe County permit, meet the inspector, and pressure-test before we light.
If you already run propane for a range or heater, we can usually branch the pit off that existing tank instead of setting a second one.
