Which fireplace brands are approved for mobile or manufactured homes?
For Brevard's manufactured homes — most of them on a propane tank — the mobile-home-listed brands we carry are Napoleon, Heat & Glo, Majestic, and Superior, spec'd in their LP direct-vent versions. The brand matters less than the specific unit: it has to hold a manufactured-home listing, run an outside-air kit, and be anchored per code.
Propane country changes the spec
Brevard is propane land — the cabins and manufactured homes tucked toward Connestee Falls and Pisgah Forest almost all run off a tank, not a natural-gas main. Propane burns hotter per unit and needs its own orifices and pressures, so a fireplace has to be built or converted for LP from the start. We spec the Napoleon, Heat & Glo, Majestic, or Superior direct-vent model in its manufactured-home listing and its propane configuration, and coordinate the tank connection with your supplier.
Moisture is the enemy here
With 80-plus inches of rain a year, Brevard chews up crowns, brick, and dampers — and a sealed direct-vent fireplace sidesteps most of that by needing no masonry chimney at all. It vents straight out through the wall, draws combustion air from outside, and stays sealed against the damp. Full wood-burning fireplaces are rarely practical in a manufactured home, and vent-free units are usually restricted, so direct-vent gas is the sensible middle.
