Which fireplace brands are approved for mobile or manufactured homes?

Flat Rock is known for 1800s homes with oversized open masonry fireplaces and aging clay flue liners — beautiful, and nothing like a manufactured home. A mobile home is regulated under federal HUD code, so it can't take just any firebox. Where a sealed insert would fix the draftiness in a historic Kanuga house, a manufactured home instead needs a factory-listed direct-vent unit designed for that construction from the start.
No chimney, no draft problem
Those old Flat Rock hearths pull cold air into the room; a manufactured home usually has no real chimney at all. Direct-vent gas answers both — it vents straight out the wall, draws combustion air from outside, and stays sealed, so there's no draft to fight and no flue to reline. Vent-free models are commonly restricted in manufactured homes, which is another reason we point owners to the direct-vent lines from Napoleon, Heat & Glo, Majestic, and Superior.

Flat Rock reaches natural-gas mains, though some manufactured homes still run on propane; either way we spec the unit to the fuel and handle the licensed connection.
