Which fireplace brands are approved for mobile or manufactured homes?

The key is that the specific unit carries a mobile-home listing, gets an outside-combustion-air kit, and is bolted down per code. Not every model qualifies, so the listing on that exact fireplace matters, not just the brand.
What "mobile-home approved" actually requires
Manufactured homes are built and regulated differently from site-built houses, so the fireplace has to be specifically listed for that use. In practice that means three things: the unit carries a manufactured-home listing, it draws combustion air from outside through a dedicated kit, and it's mechanically secured to the structure. A fireplace that's perfect for a stick-built Asheville bungalow may not be legal to install in a manufactured home three miles away — same brand, different listing.
Direct-vent gas is the usual answer
For manufactured homes, a sealed direct-vent gas fireplace is almost always the right fit: it pulls combustion air from outside, vents straight out through the wall or roof, needs no chimney, and comes in mobile-home-approved versions from Napoleon, Heat & Glo, Majestic, and Superior. Vent-free units are often restricted in these homes, and full wood-burning fireplaces are rarely practical — so direct-vent gas hits the sweet spot of real, sealed heat that's outage-tolerant with the right ignition.
Getting it permitted and done right
