So rather than an insert, we spec a Napoleon, Heat & Glo, Majestic, or Superior direct-vent unit that carries the manufactured-home listing and vents straight out the wall.

Clyde shares the Pigeon valley's cold-air drainage and the river humidity that rusts dampers and degrades masonry chimneys — all reasons a chimney-free, sealed direct-vent unit fits well. It draws combustion air from outside, stays sealed from the room, and has no flue to corrode. Vent-free units add indoor moisture and are commonly restricted in manufactured homes, so we keep Clyde owners on the direct-vent lines.
