Steady Flame Fireplaces sells Superior, and though Sylva is 50 minutes west of our Asheville showroom, it's core service area — from the heavily used student rentals near WCU to the historic masonry homes in Dillsboro. Superior's value-priced EPA wood and gas models suit both Jackson County uses. Call (828) 545-0525.
Hard-used rentals need durable, simple heat
The student and rental housing around Western Carolina takes a beating and rarely gets the maintenance an owner-occupied home does. For a landlord, Superior makes sense: a value-priced, code-compliant unit that isn't precious. The vent-free VRT4036 is simple to operate for tenants, and the EPA wood WRT4500 is a rugged box. We'd rather set a landlord up with the appropriately durable unit than an expensive one that gets abused.
In the older Dillsboro homes it's a different job — original masonry chimneys that want a careful look before anything gets installed.
The Tuckasegee valley is rough on chimneys
Sylva sits in the Tuckasegee valley, where cold-air drainage and river moisture rust dampers and degrade flue liners faster than owners expect. A fireplace that drew fine two winters ago may not now. Before we set a Superior wood box that depends on a sound flue, we check what the river valley has done to yours — and if the answer is bad, a sealed gas unit that doesn't rely on the old chimney is often the smarter call.
The distance is why maintenance matters
Being an hour out means a breakdown here waits longer for parts, so we lean hard on getting the install right and keeping up annual service. Sylva straddles natural gas and propane depending on where you are, and a Superior gas unit is built differently for each — we confirm your fuel before we quote. Whatever the county, we pull the local permit and meet the inspector. Call (828) 545-0525.
