What does the whole process look like from showroom visit to finished installation?

Flat Rock's historic homes — some dating to the 1800s — often have oversized open masonry fireplaces and aging clay flue liners, so the process here is mostly about fitting a sealed insert without spoiling the character. You visit the showroom or book a free assessment, approve a quote, deposit to order and pull the Henderson County permit, then we install.

Preserving the mantel, fixing the draft

Those old open hearths look wonderful and pull cold-air drafts straight into the room while losing most of their heat up an aging clay-lined flue. A sealed gas or wood insert with a correctly sized liner keeps the original masonry surround you love and turns it into something that actually heats. The assessment measures the firebox and checks the liner's condition first.

The written quote covers the insert, the liner, the gas line, the Henderson permit, and labor — no hard sell, the appliance that fits rather than the one that costs most.

Natural gas and a careful fit

Flat Rock sits on the natural-gas mains, so an insert can usually tie into gas cleanly — a Napoleon Oakville X4 or a Kozy Heat Chaska 25L with a blower. On the wood side, a Regency insert gives you overnight burns and heat that doesn't care about the grid. We match the unit to a period room without cutting into the historic facade.

Install day in an old house

Older homes ask for a careful hand — we protect floors and the original masonry, run and pressure-test the line, set and vent the insert, and the Henderson inspector signs off the gas. Most gas inserts go in within a day; a new liner and chimney work can add a day or two. Then we light it with you. Manufacturer's warranty plus our workmanship guarantee — (828) 545-0525.
