Two housing eras, two removals
Asheville splits neatly into two jobs. In Montford, North Asheville, and the older streets, we're usually pulling a tired insert or log set out of an original open masonry fireplace, then setting a sealed unit into that same brick opening — the chimney stays, only the guts change. Out in the South Asheville subdivisions, it's more often an aging clean-face direct-vent box that unbolts from the framing once we've shut off and capped the natural-gas line feeding it. Capping that line is licensed gas work, which is exactly why removal and install belong to the same crew.

One advantage of a hometown replacement: your old fireplace doesn't go far.
