Will the installers remove and haul away my old fireplace or stove?
Yes — for Sylva replacements, removing the old unit and hauling it away is part of the install. A lot of our work here is in rental properties and older Dillsboro homes where a fireplace has been used hard and maintained loosely, so we disconnect and cap the fuel the licensed way, pull the old appliance, and take it off the property for you.
Rentals, river damp, and worn-out units
Near WCU, much of Sylva's housing is student rentals — used heavily, maintained inconsistently — and down in historic Dillsboro the masonry chimneys are older to begin with. The Tuckasegee valley doesn't help: cold-air drainage and river moisture rust dampers and degrade flue liners faster than folks expect. So the units we remove here are often genuinely done. However the appliance runs, gas or propane, we shut off and cap the fuel the licensed way before it comes out — a live gas stub in a rental wall is exactly what you don't want left behind.
A planned trip out west
Sylva is about fifty minutes west of our Emma Rd showroom, so we scope the removal as one clean run — old insert, stove, or firebox plus the debris loaded and gone in a single trip, not left for a landlord to deal with between tenants. We pull the county permit and meet the inspector for the new install so the work is documented. And if a job turns out to need the masonry structure itself torn out, that's a mason's teardown; we'll tell you before install day rather than surprise you with it.
Keep it if it's worth it
If a removed stove or insert still has value, tell us before we arrive and we'll set it aside clean instead of hauling it off. Call (828) 545-0525 to line up your Sylva replacement.
