A rebuild or renovation is the right time to sort this out, because the firebox is often open and accessible. If yours is an original 1940s-to-60s masonry hearth that survived, it's a natural home for a Real Fyre vented set. If the rebuild put in a new factory-built wood box, we read its rating plate — that listing decides whether gas logs are allowed at all. Either way, doing it during the renovation means the gas line, the flue work, and the permit all get handled together instead of bolted on later.
