Can I put gas logs in a Superior or Majestic wood-burning fireplace?

The older downtown homes here have original masonry fireboxes that take a vented gas log set beautifully, while the new construction filling Reems Creek tends to have factory-built wood boxes that only qualify if the rating plate allows gas logs. Weaverville has grown fast, and that shows up in fireplaces. A century-old masonry hearth downtown was built to burn wood up a full clay flue — drop in a Real Fyre vented set, hold the damper open, and you've got the closest gas comes to a real wood fire. The zero-clearance wood boxes in newer Reems Creek and Ox Creek builds are a different question: some manufacturers list them for gas logs, some don't, and the only way to know is to read the plate on your exact Superior or Majestic model.
